Deep sea fishing in the texas motion sickness? When is the best time to avoid big waves, as in when to go and how to avoid sea sickness and what to do ? please help

Inexpensive deep sea fishing charters (not party boats) in Texas, Mexico, etc? I really want to go deep sea fishing. I want to go trolling for mahi mahi, sailfish, marlin, etc. I don't want to bottom fish for snapper or shark. Everything I have seen in south Texas is $1000 or more for deep sea charters. When I was a kid, we used to go to Mexico and deep sea fish, but I don' t know how much it cost. I'd love to hear from people with actual experience with deep sea charters.

Need help finding a deep sea fishing boat in Surfside, Freeport or Galveston areas in Texas .. (read more) ... All companies I have found offer full charter services, but I do not need that - I just want to take my boyfriend deep sea fishing for either a half-day or full-day trip, but would like to find a boat that offers individual "tickets" instead of chartering the entire boat. Shallow water fishing. Matagorda Bay, Texas? I love to deep sea fish but, I have recently moved to Port Lavaca, Texas. They say the bay fishing is the best in the country. Flounder, red fish, and trout. The problem is, I don't know what kind of bait to use. Artificial bait? A spoon? Live bait? Any advise would be appreciated. I am purchasing a shallow sport boat, so I can get into the shallow waters and go after the flounder. Does anyone know some good places in freeport, Texas for fishing during winter and rainy season? There is so much fresh water in rainy season and it seems the fish gets into deep sea.

I was wondering.....is there any place to scuba dive near port aransas texas? I don't want to take a week long class though. My hubby & I are going down there & would like to try & dive, but I can't seem to find any that are one day things. if you know of any around the area please tell :) we don't own any eqipment so hopefully you guys know a place that provides everything, kinda like when you go deep sea fishing.thanks :p

Can anyone tell me the U.S. record for largest amia calva (aka. bowfin, grennel), and where it was caught? Please give weight and length if possible as well. My brothers and I used to sportfish for these in bar pits on the St.Francis River in Arkansas. They fight and jump like deep sea fish! We rarely caught any smaller than 10 pounds, and 10 fish days were the rule rather than the exception. We always practiced catch-and-release, but also weighed, measured and photographed these "living fossils" {Amia Calva are the oldest unchanged fish in North America} My 14lb6oz best was a kind-of stubby 29" long, but I saw one pipe in late summer that was 48" if it was an inch. Wonder what it weighed? The Ark. record, (which we were shooting to break, unsuccessfully) was 17lbs6oz at the time. We fished with tequila sunrise powerbait worms with a modified (bobber stop to keep the weight on the worms nose) texas-rig fished slow. Any bowfin stories appreciated.
