Center Console Fishing Boats Knowledge Base
Which center console boat for saltwater fishing with a head? I'm interested in getting a small (18'-25') center console boat for the family. We like to fish at the beach, in and around the intercoastal waterway, NC. I would like to have one with a head (potty) for the comfort of the kids and ladies. What can you recommend.
New to Houston area. Could use some info on fishing and boating.? I am just about to purchase a 20' center console type fishing boat. Not quite sure which one yet but leaning towards a Century. I have experience fishing for reds, trout, flounder, snook, etc. down in Florida and want some of the same type of fishing here. The problem is, I have no idea where to go or even where to launch a boat once I get it. Is there a website that I'm not finding or a message board maybe on saltwater fishing and boating in the Houston/Galveston area? I'm considering going on a charter just to see where they take me but there's got to be a better and hopefully cheaper way to find out some of the best spots for boat launching, boat storage, and good fishing. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Does anyone know where I may be able to rent a center console boat in Destin, FL? I found a rental company but it was in Cape Coral, FL. They had a list of delivery prices depending on what beach/city they delivered to but I saw no place in the list near Destin. Rather than paying $200 to go on a party fishing boat, I thought we'd pay $250 to rent a boat and go fishing by ourselves. We do so in the gulf at home (in Louisiana) all the time but don't want to drag our boat all the way to Florida. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
What type of bait to use in saltwater fishing? I have a 21 ft. center console boat which i just purchased. I have only been saltwater fishing with a guide and we used live shrimp, however, I am going to take a trip in about a month to the Louisiana coast. What type bait do I need? (please list witht the type of fish intended for) What type of poles do I need? I will probably go in a bay and in marsh land to fish.

Am I damaging my Crown Vic? I bought a 18' Sea Pro center console fishing boat that weighs about 1600 pounds empty plus gear and trailer(two wheel trailer), so my question is am I damaging my 1995 Ford Crown Victoria LX with a 4.7L V8. I usually travel about an hours drive to the beach to go fishing and is turning off the over drive the right thing to do. The only other car I have is a 93' Buick Roadmaster with a 5.7L V8, I began towing the boat with this but it was in such bad condition I put a hitch on the Crown Vic a year ago to go to the Florida keys from central florida for fear of the buick breaking down. The Vic made it I'm just worried if I"ve been damaging it slowly. I have recently had problems with the front end, the steering ball joints but I am not sure that it is because of the trailering. Any help appriciated.
Saltwater fishing? What type of fish can i fish for in Bays. I have a 21 ft center console boat that I do not want to take Off shore. I want to stay in Bays and marshes. I know I can fish for Red Fish, trout, flounder. However I want to fish for much bigger fish if at all possible as well. I will be fishing primarily in Louisiana, MS, Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.
Saltwater fishing in Luisiana.? I just purchased a 21 ft center console pro master boat in good condition from a friend. The only problem I have now is I have been on the internet and cannot find the information I want. I need to know where can I take my boat to fish. I know that Grand Isle is a good place to fish because I have taken chartered trips there. WHere can i find out where to launch at. Also What other types of fish can I catch besides Red Fish, Trout, and flounder. Also how far to the ocean can I go, or can I even go into the ocean. I really want to take a trip soon and cannot figure out the specs.
Single outboard or twin outboard? Been looking at used center console boats and discovered that there's alot of them out there. My question is what are the pros and cons between single and twin outboards? The boats in question are 23' and up. Great Lakes boat, no reason to get a smaller one. I'll be using the boat in the great lakes for multiple purposes. Fishing of course"with trolling in mind, possible kicker", family fun(tubing and what not) and traveling. Traveling to Canada and Put in Bay from mainly Oh. and Pa, "fast is good". I do not know of the benifits between single or twin outboards. Out of the used center console boats in the longer lengths I see that there is about a 50/50 ratio between single and twins. Do the twins fall under the saying double trouble?

What is the best type of fish to fish for in Pensecola Bay, Florida? And what type of bait to use? I am taking a trip to Pensecola, Florida for a fishing trip. I have been to Pensecola, but never fishing there. I just purchased a 21ft center console pro master boat with a 15 hp yamaha outboard moter. I do not have fishing equipment yet. I need to know what is the best type of fish for fishing in Pensecola bay, and what type of fishing equipment (preferably combos at this point) and what type of bait. Looking for a good boat...? I would really like a nice boat for fishing the flats and going out 2-3 miles on nice days. (I live in the tampa bay area). I don't want to spend too much, but at the same time I would like a nice boat. Something that holds 3-4 people w/ a center console would be nice. A live well and pole holders would be positives too. I would really appreciate any suggestions as I am just starting to look. Thanks so much!
Merc 150 Submerged Outboard Motor In Saltwater Sunk Boat? I let some friends borrow my boat and they basically sunk it 20 miles offshore. When it got back on dry land (motor submerged) I immediately pulled the plugs blew out the water, rinsed with fresh water, coated with wd-40 and it started up shortly there after. I took it out 3 times after with absolutely no problems. The sinking is still a mystery and a story for another day (I'm thinking they forgot to put the plugs in the boat and when they got fish and stopped the boat, down she went, but I digress) It is a 20' center console and it had water thigh high at the helm. This in turn means both batteries were under and who knows what else. I unfortunately have not been able to see the boat since October (8 months) and am wondering if much more damage could have happened since? It has been sitting on the trailer the whole time. What can I expect when I go back to the boat? I'm sure batteries are toast and but am wondering if everything else may still be in working order? Thanks.
Which boat do I buy, a 1994 Sea Pro or 2001 Carolina Skiff? The 1994 Sea Pro is an 18ft 190DC (Dual Console) and has a 140hp Tohatsu engine with about 90 hours. The Sea Pro boat comes with a bimini top, depth finder, fishing gear, and is in emaculate condition. The man selling it is the second owner and wants $8900, 35% above NADA, but the boat is in great shape. The 2001 Carolina Skiff is a Center Console 21ft Sea Chaser 210 with a 115hp Johnson with unknown hours. It comes with a bimini top, fish finder, GPS, and two way radio but has very minor damage along the edges from bumping into the dock. The man selling it is the first owner and wants $12,000 but will negotiate. This will be my first boat and I like the Dual Console and the condition of the Sea Pro, but the Carolina Skiff is newer and has a more popular engine which might make it easier to service. The Sea Pro has individual seats which I like better than the Bench seats on the Carolina Skiff. Although the Sea Pro is over NADA, it has many extras, as does the Carolina Skiff. More info on the Sea Pro: It also comes with an engine cover and a custom boat cover. Both guys claim to have all original boxes and manuals for all of the equipment. I have been on the water with the Sea Pro and will be going out on the Carolina Skiff this weekend. The Sea Pro had a slight surge but the man says he can correct it with very minor repair. If I choose this one, I will ask him to make the repair with a promise to purchase if it does not surge the second time in the water. I am open for any advice or suggestions as to buying a boat or the dependability of either of these boats. I need to correct myself on the Carolina Skiff. It is actually a Sea Chaser by Carolina Skiff. I have been told that the hull is not shaped the same even though it is made by the same company.
