Would love to spark their interest in the sport of fishing.
What type of reel to use when fishing Kings in the Kenai river? I am fishing the Kenai river this summer (end of June), just wondering what reel would be best suited to do this. I plan on wading in the river, no boat fishing (maybe a little bank fishing on some deep spots). I am getting an ugly stick 8.5' rod, but for a reel I am still up in the air. I have a Shimano Torium 20, would that work for this type of fishing? Also, how does this reel cast, the fishing guy at Dicks Sporting Goods said it casts really well, but you never know with those guys. Thanks

The manufacturer of Trilene braided fishing line claims that the average number of gamesfish that can be landed before the line needs to be replaced on the reels is 5,000. the statandard deviation of the number of fish land is 600. Denny sampled 60 of his big game rods on his fleet of sport fishing boats and determined that the average number of fish landed before the line had to be replaced was 4800. Does Danny have a product liability complaint at the 0.10 significance level? Was Danny's experiences in performance different from that clamined by Trilene?

Diane Reeves of Lakewood, who planned the protest for Aug. 25 at the town square on Clifton Avenue, pointed to rumors that such gangs as MS 13 and the Latin Kings, as well as some out-of-town militant groups, would disrupt the rally. That, coupled with the conflict that occurred at a similar protest last month in Morristown, convinced Reeves that the handful of officers Police Chief Robert Lawson promised to provide would not be enough protection. "I was nervous that if something happened, what were we supposed to do?" Reeves said. She and other rally supporters voiced resentment that the township had not agreed to assign more members of its 125-strong police force. They pointed to Morristown, which supplied a strong police presence at the protest over the same issue in late July. Five people were ar-rested and two were slightly injured at that event. "I was very upset when I heard," said Carmen Morales, vice chairwoman of the advocacy group You Don't Speak For Me, who was supposed to speak at the rally. "I feel Lakewood is like a sanctuary for illegal immigrants . . . and (the police) seem to protect them." Officials relieved Mayor Raymond Coles stressed that the Morristown rally was municipally sponsored, as opposed to the privately organized one in Lakewood. Lawson said he could not justify taking more officers off patrol duty, and the township could not afford the overtime. Beyond that, Coles and Lawson agreed with Reeves' decision to cancel. "I'm relieved," Lawson said. "Lakewood has a large number of undocumented residents . . . and now you're going to have a group in the center of town speaking out against illegal aliens. So it's possible there'd be friction between the two factions that could lead to confrontation." Coles said, "This is a very emotional, heated issue and bringing two very emotional groups together might cause problems." Estimates of the number of illegal immigrants in Lakewood range from 5,000 to 20,000. A 2006 estimate by the U.S. Census bureau put the township's population at almost 70,000. Lawson added that it was common for organizers to pay for off-duty police officers as protection at rallies. The Lakewood rally was expected to draw up to 500 people and was to have five speakers, including two family members of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Reeves, who has never organized a rally before, now plans to find an indoor venue in another town to hold the protest, saying that since the cancellation she has heard from angry supporters offering contributions toward the cost of a demonstration. "Look at the 100,000 illegals getting protection to march down the street everywhere else," she said. "But me, a citizen, has no right because of safety issues." Buying a boat? Looking for a ski and fish boat such as the Glastron Ski and Fish lines. I want more of a sport boat than a fishing boat, and something with a lot of versatility. Any opinions on the glastrons? What are some other comparable boats that I should consider? Need something with the capability of turning into a fishing boat or a ski boat quickly.
How many hunting or fishing license and tags do you buy every year? how much does it cost? what state? I get a package deal in Oregon called a "sports pak" it includes hunting license fishing license archery deer tag archery elk tag bear tag cougar tag salmon tag steelhead tag turkey tag bird validation it cost $130 for residents. I still end up buying more salmon tags $11each (1 tag 10fish) my shell fish license $6.50 and my pursuit license to run hounds is $30 few years back Oregon started requiring boat license.
fishing boat question? My friend and i are considering buying a boat to go fishing in waters near our houses in new york. (mostly calm water) We are not sure what kind of boat to get. Keep in mind we are only teenagers with limited money looking to spend no more than $350. i know sports authority has a canoe for this price but am not sure if this would be ideal for fishing. There are also numerous "inflatable boats". Now i dont know if i should trust this because of the fear that it may pop. Any good cheap boats that you guys are aware of? What kind of boat should we pursue?
No Fishing/Boating in the Great Salt Lake? I just flew cross-country, and the route took us over the Great Salt Lake. It was a fantastic spring day, sunny and temps in the 50's...yet I saw not a single boat on the entire lake. Don't people boat/sail/fish/tour/whatever on that lake? It was the oddest thing to see no evidence of outdoor sports whatsoever on that amazing piece of water.
Shallow water fishing. Matagorda Bay, Texas? I love to deep sea fish but, I have recently moved to Port Lavaca, Texas. They say the bay fishing is the best in the country. Flounder, red fish, and trout. The problem is, I don't know what kind of bait to use. Artificial bait? A spoon? Live bait? Any advise would be appreciated. I am purchasing a shallow sport boat, so I can get into the shallow waters and go after the flounder. I intend to install lights on the bow and have seen several of these types of set ups around here. Merry Christmas Skinny water fishing
Boat restoration? Looking for a few good web sites with photos and tips on restoring old fishing boats. I recently purchased a old 15' Cherokee sport boat and wanting to convert it to a cat/bass boat.
tarpon springs, florida fishing? I was looking for cheap fishing charters in the tarpon Springs area in Florida. Not looking for sport fishing, just someone to take my parents out on any kind of boat. Where can i find a business who does this for less than 100 dollars a person?
Which campground in southern Oregon is better, Sunset on Lake of the woods or Howard Prairie resort? This will be in August and will be hot. Which has nice beach areas for the kids and still offers good fishing and boat water sports? Is one better than the other as far as shaded tent camping sites? Bike trails would be a bonus. Please respond only if you've been there. Thanks!
Another almost fishing joke? While sports fishing off the Florida coast, a tourist capsized his boat. He could swim, but his fear of alligators kept him clinging to the overturned craft. Spotting and old beachcomber standing on the shore, the tourist shouted,"Are there any gators around here?!" "Naw," the man hollered back, "they ain't been around for years!" "Feeling safe, the tourist started swimming leisurely toward the shore. About halfway there he asked the guy,"How'd you get rid of the gators?" "We didn't do nothin'," the beachcomber said. "The sharks got 'em." (from http://www.flintstories.com/anecdotes.php )
Have you fished for salmon shark from a kayak? Here is more info about this sport; http://www.vagabondish.com/big-fish-little-boat-extreme-kayak-shark-fishing/ I live in Alaska but know little about this form of fishing, any information on the great. How fast do I troll for them, what size hooks in the salmon bait do I use? Etc etc? I have just got to try this! Sorry for the typo; I meant any information would be great.
What are the best techniques and or lures/bait for catching grouper, snapper, & other large fish species? I'm fishing on a saltwater charter boat tomorrow and would like to increase my chances of catching a larger species fish. I'm not a "sport fisherman" and have no idea what a lot of the terms in the local bait/tackle shop are. I've heard that clarkspoons are good but have no experience whatsoever with how they are used. Also, what are fishing skirts used for and how do they work?
Answering questions on yahoo catagories? I've scrolled down a number of things and one catagory I just can't seem to find. Ocean sports fishing. Is there a catagory in that? Looking into buying a boat for water sports. What horsepower range should I look for? I want to use it for fishing and tubing/skiing. Do not want to be under powered.
Anyone heard of renting outboard boat motors only? I'm going on a fishing/camping trip and need an extra boat motor, but obviously they are fairly expensive, even used ones. I am curious to see if anyone has heard of marinas or motor sports stores RENTING outboard motors. The trip will be in northern Michigan. Thanks.
This may be a silly question about illegal immigration and the rights of cops to "arrest" illegal immigrants . . . Someone just posed a question about fishing licenses. Here's a true story. My husband and I are avid sport fishermen. We were in our boat lobster diving in the Keys when I kid you not, a helicopter hovered over our boat, and demanded through a bull horn to see our fishing licenses. Not one, but three agents came down a rope, boarded our boat, and physically inspected the licenses to make sure they were valid. My husband was underwater at the time, so I was alone with my four-year-old son in the boat. We were playing "I Spy" - neither of looked dubious in any way. So my question is, why can't cops ask to see identification papers of people who are reasonably suspected of being illegal? P.S. our boat was searched for proper equipment as well . . .
What kind of fishing pole should I get? I mainly fish for freshwater fish: crappie, trout, walleye I'm a girl (5'4) and have fished enough in my life to know what I'm doing though am not a "good" fisherman, I just do it for fun. I do it often at creeks and such, and plan on doing it more with some more experienced/sport fisherman friends, so I'd be learning. I wouldd prefer not to look like a jackass rookie (excuse the language) out on the boat and/or land so keep that in mind when thinking of a fishing pole. I want something relatively inexpensive, yet with good quality ...and relevant to my fishing habitats. thank you!
When do you call it quits? Okay, a little background first. I am 25, my husband is 27. My husband and I have known each other for 8 years and have been married for 4. We have decent jobs and live quite comfortably. We live on an 80 acre farm, we have a cat and 3 dogs. We love each other more than life itself. I don't speak for my husband, only what he has told me. We are true solemates. Our friends are jealous of our relationship...it's that good. I volunteer and he plays 3 sports, so we have our share of alone time and don't rely on each other to survive all day. We camp, fish, boat and do all kinds of out door activites together. We have been trying to conceive for about 4 years, basically right after our wedding. It's finally to the point where I am ready to give up and move on. I know my husband wants kids in the worst way, as do I, but I am unceratin when it becomes a matter of selfishness. Do I really want to risk the life and health of my child because I can't stand disapointing myself? I have been diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, although I don't know if I belive it or not. I have tried the Clomid thing, I have tried some infertility treatments like Letrozole, all with no results. My body basically doesn't respond at all. I have had an HSG with no problems. He has had a semen analysis-no issues. IVF and adoption are finacially out of the question. I am only 25, I realize that, but I am tired of wishing and hoping. I just feel like saying-DONE. I am so annoyed by people wanting to know when we will have kids...not so easy to explain. I am so ready to be able to say, we won't be having any. Funny enough, I feel like I will be letting my husband down more than anything. He won't have a child to teach to camp/hunt/fish/play hockey/insert activity here. We are also the only grandkids married and ever able to carry on the family name. All the pressure makes me want to make the decision sooner. I just don't want to regret it. So... Oh, and ever day is a new adventure for me. I work in an OB/Gyn Clinic and see all the tramps coming is with their billion kids they can't afford and so excited number 6 is on the way. I look up and ask, "What is so wrong with me that I can't just have one?" Any one have any thoughts for me? Sorry for rambling?

What else should I know about Italy? Well, I have a report dew tommorow. It is about Italy. Your supposed to write a "letter" to your friend. This is what I have so far: "Dear Jenny, Ciao! I am here, in Italy! It is such a beautiful place. Today, I visited Rome, the capital of Italy. It is about 43 degrees north latitude, and 13 degrees west longitude. Rome is one of the oldest cities in Italy. There is so much history that I need to learn! Yesterday, I was in Venice, Italy. In Venice, they travel by boat, since it is surrounded by water. And all the houses in Venice are built on the water! It’s so different than Illinois. I saw the Leaning tower of Pisa. Did you know that the tower of Pisa tilts about 15 ft? I took a train ride around the Alps Mountains, and I saw a lot of hawks! Most of the people are Catholics. They celebrate Christmas and Easter. Italians like to eat pork, fish, pasta and wine. Their favorite sport is soccer." I don't know anything else. So, should I include more?
2 blonde fishermen? 2 dumb fishermen decided to rent a boat on a lake for their favorite sport. After fishing for 4 hours at various places around the lake with no luck at all they decided to try one more spot before calling it quits, Suddenly things started to happen, and they caught their limit inside of twenty minutes. paul said, (Hey we should mark this spot, so next time we will know where to come,) Jim says good idea, and he took out a can of spray paint and made a large X on the floor of the boat....to mark the spot.... With that paul says, why did you do that, now anyone who rents this boat will know where to fish.

What boat is my best option? I am looking for a boat to use on our Kansas lakes. It will be used primarily for fishing and some water sports. We have 2 young boys also to consider. What type, make etc. is the best boat for this use? Thanks, Jon
How do I buy a used boat? I'm thinking of buying a boat for fishing, waterskiing, tubing, water sports. We will use it for freshwater lakes only, no sea water. Cuddy? I'd rather camp but if the price is right.... I've looked at some classified. $5000 would be my limit. What do I look for in buying a used boat? How do I tell if it's a lemon? Is there such thing as a lemon boat (just as a lemon car)? Is it just as easy making a lemon look perfect just as easy as it is for a car? If boat is well maintaned does it matter how old it is? 1970's? Can anyone help me out?
Need a good galveston fishing charter boat/trip recommendation? I want to plan a surprise fishing trip for my husband, but I don't know the first thing about the sport. Any details and recommendations for a fishing trip close to Houston (Galveston I guess) would be greatly appreciated!
Any gators? While sports fishing off the Florida coast, a tourist capsized his boat. He could swim, but his fear of alligators kept him clinging to the overturned craft. Spotting and old beachcomber standing on the shore, the tourist shouted, "Are there any gators around here?!" "Naw," the man hollered back, "they ain't been around for years!" "Feeling safe, the tourist started swimming leisurely toward the shore. About halfway there he asked the guy, "How'd you get rid of the gators?" "We didn't do nothin'," the beachcomber said. "The sharks got 'em."

As he was walking unsteadily along, he was stopped by a policeman. “What are you doing out here at 2 A.M.?” said the officer. “I’m going to a lecture.” the man said. “And who is going to give a lecture at this hour?” the cop asked. “My wife.” said the man ------ While sports fishing off the Florida coast, a tourist capsized his boat. The closets were full of simple but servicable clothing, and the kitchen was stocked with the basic needs. Bill slowly settled into a modest and quiet life in heaven. One day, Bill was walking in one of Heaven's many fine parks, when he ran into a man dressed in a fine tailored suit. "That is a nice suit, my friend," said Gates. "Where did you get it?" "Actually," the man replied, "I was given a hundred of these when I got here. I've been treated really well. I got a mansion on a hill overlooking a beautiful lake. I have a huge five-hundred acre estate, a golf course, tennis courts and three Rolls Royces." "Were you the Pope, or a doctor who healed the sick?" asked Gates. "No," said his new friend, "Actually, I was the captain of the Titanic." Hearing this made Gates so angry that he immediately stalked off to find St. Peter. Cornering St. Peter, Bill told him about the man he had just met, saying, "How could you give me a paltry new house, while you're showering new cars, a mansion, and fine suits on the Captain of the Titanic? I invented the Windows operating system! Why does he deserve better?" "Yes, we use Windows here in heaven," replied Peter, "and the Titanic only crashed once." 3.Gabriel came to the Lord and said, "I have to talk to you, I have some Cajuns up here in Heaven who are causing some problems. They are swinging on the Pearly Gates. My horn is missing. Barbecue sauce is all over their robes. Ham hock, spareribs, and crawfish shells are all over the streets of gold.. Some folks are walking around with one wing . They have been late taking their turn in keeping the stairway to heaven clean. There are watermelon seeds all over the clouds. They have eaten almost every animal up here! Some of them aren't even wearing their halos, saying it is messing up their hair." The Lord said, "I made them special, as I did you, my angel . Heaven is home to all my children. If you really want to know about problems, let's call the Devil and see how he is dealing with them." The Devil answered the phone, "Hello? Dang, hold on." The Devil returned to the phone and said, "Hello, God, what can I do for you?" God replied, "Tell me what kind of problems you are having down there with the Cajuns you have there." The Devil said, "Wait one minute," and puts the Lord on hold. After 5 minutes he returned to the phone, and said "Okay, I'm back. What was the question?" God asked again, "What kind of problems are you having downthere?" The Devil said, "Man, I don't believe this..... Hold on, God." This time the Devil was gone for 15 minutes. The Devil returned and said, "I'm sorry, God, I can't talk right now. These Cajuns have done put the fire out, and are holding a benefit to install air conditioning and Direct TV so they can watch LSU in the Sugar Bowl" 4.A Jewish man moves into a Catholic neighborhood. Every Friday, the Catholics go crazy because, while they're morosely eating fish, the Jew is outside barbecuing steaks. So the Catholics work on the Jew to convert him. Finally, by threats and pleading, the Catholics succeed. They take the Jew to a priest who sprinkles holy water on the Jew and intones: "Born a Jew -- Raised a Jew -- Now a Catholic." The Catholics are ecstatic. No more delicious, but maddening smells every Friday evening. But the next Friday evening, the scent of barbecue wafts through the neighborhood. The Catholics all rush to the Jew's house to remind him of his new diet. They see him standing over the cooking steak. He is sprinkling water on the meat and saying: "Born a cow -- Raised a cow -- Now a fish."
Statictis Question: manufacture of Trilene? The manufacturer of Trilene braided fishing line claims that the average number of gamesfish that can be landed before the line needs to be replaced on the reels is 5,000. the statandard deviation of the number of fish land is 600. Denny sampled 60 of his big game rods on his fleet of sport fishing boats and determined that the average number of fish landed before the line had to be replaced was 4800. Does Danny have a product liability complaint at the 0.10 significance level? Was Danny's experiences in performance different from that clamined by Trilene?

Why do all men have to love motorcyles and sports so much? I'm 47 and trying to get over my last boyfriend (he only lasted 3 months). Prior to that I was married, but have been divorced for 5 years. I remained celebate for all those 5 years to take care of my son and getting that boyfriend was marvelous..he just turn out to be totally wrong for me in personality! My question is, now I'm checking out internet dating, and the men I feel interested in all usually have pictures of themselves doing sports and sometimes riding motorcyles. I don't have anything distinctly wrong with that, but do they really think that will attract a woman? I'm an athletic woman (I do karate and skeet shooting), but motorcycles scare (they're dangerous) and I don't really want to spend my time fishing, climing mountains, boating, etc. Why is it that so many attractive men want to concentrate on these interests to attract women? Perhaps they don't know that some women can't stand mountain climbing, camping, fishing and motorcycles? Not sure what to do...

Do Girls Want To Do Anything With Their Lives Other Than Get Married? ... and to get a house and raise kids? Guys seem to have more interests (but I could be wrong). Guys like to be good at sports, to mountain climb, to work on cars, to get a great job and earn a lot of money by working hard, to build houses, to hunt, to fish, to sail boats, to become "powerful." Girls seem to seldom show that they have any goal / purpose other than to get married and have kids I think a girl is really really attractive when she shows that she has a passion and can accomplish so much more than other girls tend to do.
who owns their own.......? boat? Do you fish, or use it for water sports?
How nerdy would you say i am? I am a 14 year old guy. I'm 5 foot 10 and weigh 132 pounds. I hang with my friends about 4-5 times a week. i have friends but really only 1 real bestfriend that i hang out with all the time. I like to read, but only stephan king, i hate school, i am a 4.0 student though. I've never been on a date, and i havnt had my first real kiss yet. Its annoying.. oh yeah, and i have a beard growing, and a stash. I am not on any sports teams at school or anywhere else. i'm preety average at skill wise, and i do like sports, just not playing them so much on teams. I like to just mess around and play Basketball and Soccor with friends, but not for school or anything. i am kinda social. Not to much though, i am not a people person, only to a few people, my best friends. So, just by all that.. would you say i am a nerd?
