Lake Vermilion Minnesota Fishing? I am going to Lake Vermilion at end of August. Staying on East side of lake by Everetts Bay. Going to try Everetts Bay and Pike Bay for pike and muskie and Big Bay for walleyes. I'm looking for any advice from someone who has fished this lake as it is my first time there. Not looking for general fishing tips. Rather I'm looking for any tips, baits, techniques, hazards and/or any locations specific to this lake. This is my yearly vacation and trying Minnesota instead of my yearly hike to Canada. I'm from Wisconsin and trying something closer to home and no border headaches.Thanks.

FISH OIL and FISH in general; good or bad for the HEART? I've just come across this online: http://healthfullife.umdnj.edu./archives/fish_oil_archive.htm I thought it was proven that Omega and whatever other fish oils were really good for the heart!!! Is it just the opposite? Lately I've noticed that today they might tell you a certain food or product is the best you can take for disease prevention, a couple of months later they come back telling you it is quite the opposite! Personally have you had any benefits (especially for the heart), with fish or fish oils?
All rounder fishing reel? Can anyone recommend a good quality reel that will do for general use fishing? Mostly used on holidays fishing off a pier or off the rocks, but sometimes off a river bank. Also I dont realy want to spend a fortune on it. Could I get something for around £30. The rod I have is a telescopic rod.

My red general star fish was attached to a off white feathery like worm that came out of my new live rock.? I tried to pull the worm off my star fish but it was inside as well. My star fish is doing fine I think, however one day a growth was on it back so I remove it, it was like hanging and hard so I removed it. Now there a half inch growth yellowish, red around some side. The growth is lodge in between the peck around the center of the back of the star fish. The same place where the worm went inside. As I look to the side it look like eggs and than when I look down on it it could be pus. What should I do? I do not have another tank to put the star fish in and I'm worried about the other fishes in the tank. Two clowns, and one shrimp. The star fish color is fine, she not slimmie, she move around the tank, she eats, This growth was not on her two days ago, now it big and look like it what to pop. I've being going throught this with her for about two and a half week now. Since the worm went inside her, I though I killed the worm when I pulled it off. Does anyone know what I should do. the worm was attached to the back where this big growth is now. The worm curled and was half in and half out of the star fish...the back not underneath. This growth swells like it has fluided inside then as you watch it it goes down all by itself in a day or two. However the growth is still there. Sometime I wonder If it's getting another point around the circle in the center of it's back since this is where the growth is.
how often does a red general star fish eat? I have a forty gallon tank...I've had the star for a 8 days.? I'm worried that it's not eating. I have meaty and waffer (veggie) food. I've tried placing the food in the middle of the star only for it to stay a little while then the star pushes it out and I find the food on the bottom of the tank.Is this normal or should I not worry and it will eat when it's ready.I have other fishes and live and dead rock.my tank was just cleaned about two weeks ago and I have a shrimp, hermits and snails.The tank temp stay around 79 degrees.
Blue Acara tropical fish - Breeding and General information please! (Preferably own experiences!)? Im thinking about getting 1 male and 1 female blue acara and try to breed them. Some websites say it is quite easy - they lay eggs on a "Pre-cleaned" stone/rock (What does pre-cleaned mean??) I have a 3 foot 28 gallon(?) tank would that be ok? Are blue acaras ok with other fish like guppys or even clown loaches??? so some information please! :-)

Fly Fishing Texas Coast, especially for red drum? Recently, my travels find me in Houston, Texas. I am a beginner when it comes to fly fishing in saltwater and Christmas Bay was mentioned as a good place to start and an easy place to hook some red drum (by easy, I am not sure if the person meant better odds or guaranteed, but my guess is not the latter). Can anyone give me any advice on fly fishing for red drum; particularly in relation to local fly’s that have proven successful as well as locations? Really, any advice would be greatly appreciated when it comes to fly fishing the Texas coast in general. I plan to start with red drum, but would love to progress from there. Also, I feel it is vitally important that I inform you that I practice CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY. After all, if I am asking my fellow brethren of the angle to give up some of their secrets and destinations, I feel it is only fair that I commit to you that your fish will still be there to catch for yourself the next time you go fishing!
Just asked a guy to go fishing with a friend couple of mine? We talked about the best day of the week for us to do that and we decided on a certain day of the week. His schedule is so uncertain and full right now that we could not set a definite date. I know his schedule and responsibilities. mine is much like his, but i am not as responsible as he is so it is easier for me. I really like him a lot! Did I ask him on a date? Does this sound like he is interested in going. When I first brought the fishing up, he just in general said "i'd love to do that"-that's when I said-do you want to come along. Would you consider this asking him on a date? Do you think by his reponse he will really go.

What fishing reel or size needed for a 9ft rod? Shimano 4500? My boyfriend is really into his fishing and wants a larger fishing rod. I think he wants a general purpose one to do everything his 6ft rod can't do as well. I've gotten him a 9ft Shimano rod, 20lb line and bought a Shimano 4500 reel but not sure if I need to change the reel for a larger one? Think he'd like to try for larger fish (e.g. jewfish / mulloway) and maybe also use it for surf fishing... Any suggestions for an alternate reel or is the one I have adequate? Many thanks!!
Asking Questions about fishing? Don't know how all the rest of you feel, but sure would be nice when people post questions about fishing, if they would give us a general idea of what part of the country/world they are in. Differant parts of the county have differant ways of catching fish than other parts...due to weather, water conditions, etc. So Just an Idea...that if people would giving a general idea of where they are, some of us could be more spicific. Just thinking out loud.

Please offer general advice for an african cichlid tank.? I purchased a rather small 28 gallon bow front fish tank. I am sold on african cichlids but I've yet to add ANYTHING to the tank. TROUT Fishing in Ontario, Canada? Are there and good place left to go fishing for trout in central or southern ontario? I know that fishermen don't like to give up their secret spots but if anyone is willing to share a general area I would greatly appreciate it. Paticularly rainbows are of interest. Tips on Walleye fishing? I have my own favorite ways, but would like to hear other opinions. They're catching them off my island right now, I know the general area, but not exactly. There is a steep drop-off in one area, goes down to 80 feet less than 50 yards offshore, but are also a lot of shoals in that area. There is an old railroad bed, that separates the deep water from a relatively shallow bay (15 feet), the channel going into the bay is about 30 feet deep. Where would you start? What's your favorite bait / lure? Some of my best luck has been on a whole crawler threaded on a plain hook, and I like Erie Dearies too, but I've never caught a monster like the ones I'm hearing about. Drift, troll or anchor? I do have a fishfinder, but there are so many fish in this lake, it always shows fish. I think we're going to try on Sunday, if it's not too sunny and calm. If it is, we'll go looking for the elusive crappies. Thanks in advance for your advice! Hope you get to go fishing this weekend!
In fishing, Is it best to use live worm bait OR rubber lures? I am going fishing for the first time in a pond out in Houston, Texas... Should I use live worms as bait OR are rubber lures just as good? I don't know what sort of fish they have at the pond. I do know it is a park with a pond (out in Katy--west houston)... But, in general-- in your opinion-- are rubber lures as effective?

I will also be accepting clients whom have needs/requests about specific stretches of water and will build him/her detailed and individual packages. General packages may include: Marked AP’s, AP’s span, difficulty traversing AP, FISHABLE stretch of water reached by AP, any equipment needed or vehicles able to negotiate AP (ATV, 4x4, etc.), F&G regs, water speed, popularity and parking options for AP. Client requested packages could also include GPS coordinates for waypoints, camping areas, entomology/flies used, water depth, foliage, pics of AP and any other special requests. My question is: If this service and info was available for your use; would it be worth paying for and how valuable would you consider it being? I asked this late last night, but wanted to submit in a higher traffic time. I will work on keeping my public relations with the local F&G Dept and the Outfitters. Since I am an infosource I will not outfit clients with gear, rides, licenses and will not escort or guide any client. It will be strictly an information service.

Best summer bass fishing in Northern KY? I have been trying to scope out northern kentucky for some bass fishing. For a while during the spring, it was okay, but now the summer and lack of rain is making bass fishing here bad. Where can I go in northern ky or southern ohio (cincinnati)?? 38 Gallon Fish Tank- New to aquariums, need some general insite? Alright, picking up a 38 gallon tank tomorrow and looking to make an all chiclid tank. When I asked these questions on a chiclid forum I received some very harsh responses. There are thousands of different species of chiclids, I apologize for not knowing all of them and their scientific names. My question is I'm looking for some colorful chiclids that are 3 inches max full grown, can anyone reccomend any? Along those same lines how many can I house comfortably? Meaning I'd rather be understocked on fish then over. Also in terms of tank equipment, higher priced equipment doesn't always mean better. Is there any solid brand out there that has a good track record? Being new to the hobby this is major disadvantage for me.

Know of any good fishing areas between Gulfport Miss. to Pensacola Fl.? I would prefer shore & land vs boat.? I am going to be spending the next month or so moving along that stretch of the gulf coast and would like to do some angling, freshwater or salt. Speck Fishing? The local papers around here (southeast florida) have been saying the speck have been going crazy around certain spillways.
