fishing knots for a novice? Hi I've just bought myself a simple rod, which I'll use to surfcast. That's basically the ONLY technical term I know so far haha :) My line has a floater, 5 small lead weights (is that enough?) a metal wire-thing at the end of which is the lure. I HATE to untie or tie knots. What does that say about my personality? I am a 31 year old guy who hates to tie and untie knots. Knots in shoes, tying knots for fishing, etc. I think this is somehow linked to my dislike of technical aspects. I hate technical stuff on jobs. I hate math. It's just 6- or 10-pound test on a light freshwater pole and I used to know how to make one, but don't remember anymore, or even what type it was. Fly fishing knots? I want to know what the proper knot is to use when tying a midge or nymph as a dropper fly under a dry fly. I'm talking about tying the seconded piece of tippet used to connect the dropper fly to the dry fly to the hook on the dry fly. I use 6 or 7x Floucarbon tippet so it can't cut into itself. Right now I use a clinch knot, but it think it's only a 90% knot and I’m looking for a 100% knot if there even is one that is supposed to be used here, if not I think I’ll use a Davy's Knot. I hope I wrote that so you can understand it, if you can’t then let me know so I can try something different.

I need Fly fishing help!? I just got a fly rod from my wife for our anniversary, and I know nothing about flyfishing(or spin casting for that matter). The kit I got says it has everything I need to hit the water today. But I have to tie all the lines together, and to the reel. I'm not scared of knots, but don't know which of them to use. I went to a fly fishing demo a couple of years ago, and think I remember the idea of how to cast. But I'm lacking in experiance. Are there any Fly fishing sites designed for beginers. Fishing line question.? I'm looking for a new fishing line to put on my baitcast reel. I use spider wire super mono xxx for catfish bass and pretty much every thing else except trout. I'm dissapointed with the spider wire because of the memory, thickness, visability under water and I relly just dont like the line. Any way I'm looking fo some new line. I want some that dosen't hve much memory, its strong, clear under water good knot strength, abrasion resetant, and dose not backlash to much. I know the line I want probley dosn't exsist but what ever comes close. What line do you use?
