What is a good fishing kayak for a decent price? Im wanting to start kayak fishing and am looking at buying my first kayak. I dont want the cheapest out there because I know all too well you get what you pay for but at the same time im not wanting to dish out a ton of money. If someone could just let me know a of a nice fishing kayak at a decent price Id really appreciate it.

My husband and I love to Kayak but he now has his kayak set up for fishing and I am not coordinated enough to fish and kayak. Can't decide as each has pro's and cons. Can't really stand in a kayak or Canoe but is cheaper and lighter to cart around to isolated spots. Tinny is heavier more expensive but more room and can stand to cast. Opinions???

looking for a fishing kayak? I live in Maryland and iam looking for a good fishing kayak I would like to find a two seater but would be happy with a one seater I won't have to worry about catching a humongous fish I will stay in the Chesapeake and its rivers I want one that could hold a tackle box and bait and it would be nice for rod holders in it but not super importantand I would also one that moves pretty well through the water I don't have to worry about any big waves either. Just got a new Kayak for fishing! Happy Happy Happy!? Although, currently I own a 16 FT Lund and an old Ranger, The Boss (my Wife) , let me get yet another fishing vehichle! I got an Old Town "Guide" 2 Kayak for stream fishing! The streams are kinda "washed out & high" right now, but, soon I will be hitting some cool "new" waters I couldn't get to because there were NO ramps. Anyway, just figured you guys would understand. (lol)

What do I need to go fishing from my kayak in Portland, OR? I have a kayak and head out on the Columbia, Willamette and Sauvie Island (river and lakes) a lot. I am looking to use the kayak for multiple things, not just fishing or small paddles. I would use it for fishing, long trips, short trips but moslty in the bay/ocean because I dont have any rivers/lakes where I live. Now what I need in a kayak is storage space, great stability in waves, enough room to be comfortable for long voyages and faster if possible. What kayak based on my needs would be suitable for me. How can I protect myself from power boats when I'm in a kayak? I frequently kayak in waterways filled with everything form large ships to small boats and jet skis. I know the obvious: kayak whistle, lights at night, avoid busy channels when possible, etc. What I'm wondering is, what is the best way to take aggressive defensive measures when I'm about to be mowed down by a mullet headed jackass with a beer coozy in one hand, fishing pole in the other and his knee on the helm of a motor boat, who is aimed right at me but isn't looking or listening? How can I even the odds and create a visible, potentially destructive deterrent, so those idiots will avoid me?

Saltwater fishing questions? I have a few questions about saltwater fishing. I usually go out on partyboats down around the keys, but, I want to try fishing the flats (by kayak). First, when fishing for redfish (using cut bait), do you add weight to the line or would you use a jighead with bait. What I mean is, do you use a sliding weight or tie the weight to the line, etc. How exactly do you use a "popper". My understanding is that you just jerk the line to make a popping noise. Is this correct? And how often do you pop it (every few feet or more)? And I have heard of "walking the dog" with top water plugs. What exactly is that and how is that done? Is it a side to side motion caused by just moving the pole? And last, for all of you experienced flats fisherman...what baits do you use to target sea trout, redfish, bonefish and permit. Thanks for all the help...I'll need it. And P.S. - If you don't know the answer to my questions, please don't B.S. it...I would really like to learn the right ways. TY

Sit on top tandem kayak? What's it good for? I'm looking at buying an inexpensive sit on top tandem kayak. I've been around boats a bit -- crewed on tall ships and motor vessels, and have done a bit of whitewater rafting and am swiftwater rescue certified at the tech level.
