winter fly-fishing for steelhead?
I am going fly-fishing this winter for steelhead, and I am fairly new to fly-fishing, so what are good tips for steelhead? I am going at a creek in Erie, probably in January or February, so any help is good. Thanks!

- egg patters work for me also nymphing with a gole ribbed hares ear but mostly egg patterns have produced
- Bunnies! Big fluffy bunnies in egg colors, like flo orange, red, roe and like 'doc' says egg patterns. Leeches work and I am also into using flesh-flies, which are similar to bunnies.
- The water will be extremely cold, and my experience has been to go small. Nymphs such as Hare's Ear, Prince, Black Stones, Pheasant Tails, in sizes from 12's down to 18's. Make sure you take a set of "Ice Creepers" like for Ice Fishing to strap onto your wader boots, the shoreline of the Erie Tributaries can be treacherous. You must check out www.fisherie.com and Steelhead101. There are maps, fishing reports, etc. The bait shops also post alot of great info, Stream Conditions, etc.
