- It's totally worth it. Of course, I'm a fly fisherman so somewhat biased. There's a lot to it: casting, approach, fly selection, fly presentation, tackle knowledge, etc. But at the end of the day, it's still just fishing and all the other facets are what make it a blast. That, and it darn effective. I used to think it was a disadvantage when it came to catching fish but I know think differently. Another way to look at it: even if the fish aren't biting, you can always work on your cast!

- I am just starting fly fishing and I love it. And yes it does take 'talent' to fly fish. Yes it is worth the time learning. It is really fun once you really get into it. Good luck and hope to see ya on the next big fly fishing show!!! -Fishingidiot-
- I, am not an expert fly-fisherman by any stretch of the imagination, but i definitely enjoy it. I fish with small poppers & there is a rush, when a fish rises up & takes the bug. I fish primarily for BASS & Bluegill. To date, my largest Bass, was an 8#7oz , when i caught it, was using a fenwik 9' 4wt. rod with an Accardo popping bug, attached to 4# leader. I do other fishing, but fly fishing, is my favorite & i have been doing it for over 45 years
- I'm a fly fisherman so obviously my views will be going towards fly fishing being a positive thing, and yes it is worth a go as once mastered it can and will be great fun and should take you to lots of different places in your search for trout, bone-fish, tarpon, brown trout etc
