Fishing for striped bass from the shore in sacramento?
Ok ive been fishing from freeport to nights landing. spend alot of time. watch reports. sardines and chicken liver caught alot of keepers on chicken liver. tryed the mud suckers or whatever they are for live bait with no luck. Keepers are not the problem its breaking the 30in mark. How do larger stripers hit? should i move if im getting tuns of small hits? baits? location? Please guys help me out its stripper time and I would love too catch a nice one. Thx so much for your help in advance.

- My husband is a striper fisher man he has caught many big striper over 30 lbs.He says you should try to use larger livebaits the and not to give up.You will figure out the secrets to catching the bigger ones if you keep at it.
- For striper, the rules are pretty simple. They move in schools of similar size, so if you get dinks....then that's generally what's around. They're migrant fish, moving up the rvr system, so you have to move with them. There are some good fish being caught at Discovery Park right now. Try cut sardine, live pike minnow, pile worms....etc. It's hard to tell you "how" a larger fish hits. I've had 20lb striper just pick up the bait and slowly swim away...just like the little guys. They've pecked at it, just like the little guys. And they'll come up and wack it, then hit it really hard...not like the little guys. Just keep at it. The larger fish just aren't that far up in the system yet. There are still large striper being pulled out down near the bay, so it's a little early for bigger fish. Just target (slightly smaller presentation - hook/bait) smaller (4-12lb) fish right now, and within a week, we'll see bigger fish move through. Trust me, you'll be hearing about it. And you're in a good stretch of river too.
