why do people say that pike don't fight?

People say that pike dont fight. you are probly useing the wrong type of gear. Any fish will fight if given the chance to. ive just started fly fishing for pike and its the best fishing ever especially when you catch a pike around 18 pounds. the fight goes on for days. Dam rite 18 pounds. I live in corby but i got on alot of fishing trips and they got a good lake near me filled full of pike and he lets me fly fish for them. The recored for the lake is 25 pounds. thats not true little ones fight but go crazy e.g. jump and more. i dont see many car jumping carp jumping dam rite its good fun

2. They say it because their shape does not allow them to fight against being pulled in as well as say Trout , Tench or Carp. However, when you get a big one they fight alright.
3. Ive never heard anyone saying this, trying to bring a pike up from the depths on a fly rod and on a quick sinking line is very hard work, but its also good fun.

Those people are weird.They must be using like like 50 pound test line.there expecting to catch like a 40 pounder.On light line they fight like you wouldnt belive.I got a 15-20 pounder a few months ago.fought for 10 minutes.Little ones are so acrobatic.They fly threw the air and peel line off the reel to depths over 20 feet.They are monsters.Good luck and Good fishing.
6. I agree that a lot of people use very heavy tackle, which takes the 'fight' out of the equation to some degree. I dont fish for pike , but have caught a 5 lb.er on 6 lb test while walleye fishing and it gave me a solid 10 min battle.........I'm guessing those who say pike dont fight are either mistakenly taking about Walleye(some call them Walleyed Pike, which is totally untrue), or they havent caught a 8-20 pounder.
