I live near a very large lake and I wanted to go bass fishing this summer, but I don't know what the best lures or plastic bait are the best. I also don't know, when using plastic bait or lures, what the best technique is. Can anyone Help me?

  1. dude try the banjo minnows the king shad u have to order banjos but u can get king at dicks sporting goods
  2. Wow! Bass fishing is one of the most complex types of fishing becasue there are so many techniques to try and suceed with. If your boatless some of the fast techniques like spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and crankbaits might be less productive because they are fat retrieves designed to cover alot of ground. Obviously fishing bait can be very sucessful, like worms or shad, but takes some of the sport out of it. some of the most sucessful bass fisherman swear by carolina or texas rigged plastic worms and also Jigs.
  3. Go get a good variety (color and size) of worms, like robo worms. Get a few mid sized spinners in a few different colors, like white, green, black, and maybe a mix. And Senko's, same thing. Learn how to tie a good knot... Learn how to set up a Texas Rig and set up a drop shot. Also look up a little technique for both rigs. Last think learn how to set your hooks up weedless!
  4. not trying to pry, but the question seems that you are a beginner fisherman. nothing wrong with that, everone needs to learn to fish. best sport in the world. if that is so then don't try to get too complex with your lures and techniques too quickly. start simple. beetle spins are an easy lure to use. they are also a very inexpensive lure to use. 3" broke back minnows are a great all around crank bait. if you like spinner baits, get you a smaller sized spinner, or buzz bait, with willow blades. try not to do a whole lot of finese fishing with worms or other plastic baits. start out with buzz baits or crank baits. i hope that helps a little good luck and good fishin
  5. texas rigged worm
  6. You don't say if you will be in a boat or on the shore. In a boat a spinner, crank or jig and pig will work wonders and let you cover alot of water fast.... When you get a strike keep your lure in the same area as there will be more fish there...Don't be in a hurry to move to anoher spot. If fishing from the shore try a live worm reeled in slowly or a texas or carolina rig. With bass patience is the key. You can read more in a free report from Joe....
  7. I have been fishing for bass since I was a kid in the '60's and I still am learning, everytime I go to the tackle store there are more new lures than you can shake a fishin' rod at. It is going to depend on what lake you are fishing, etc...I would suggest looking online for the fishing reports for the lake you are going to be fishing and see what they are biting and where in the lake the main action is. If you are a novice and want to really catch fish there, hire you a local guide, that is the best way to learn what to do on any particular body of water, especially if you don't have the time to learn yourself. A fine example is I live near three major bass impoundments, lake Euffalla (us georgia folks reffer to it as lake Walter F. George), lake Blackshear and lake Seminole, they are all within an hour drive or less from me, and fishing those three lakes are as different as night and day, one is shallow and full of hydrilla, one is deep with tons of structure, and one is crowded with homes and docks, and relatively shallow, they all require totally different methods of fishing most of the time. What I do to catch alot of fish at one will not work on the other two.....and never will, each lake has it's own personality, it's own character and so do the fish that reside in them. Good luck.
