Is there a decent boat for small lakes and for saltwater?
I am new to the boating and looking to buy a boat but can’t find perfect rig. I like to fish small freshwater lakes and also want to try near shore saltwater fishing. I was thinking 15-17 feet boat 40-60 hp outboard. Aluminum or fiberglass? Skiff or deep V? Thank you in advance. Gary.

- buy a bluewave that is perfect for salt water and in freshwater. cuz the salt water wont mess up th boat and freshwater welll pretty much any boat can go in that
- An r.i.b. is a good bet, failing which a fibreglass deep v.
- I would suggest at least 19ft. I like the center console so you can walk around easy. I would get at least a 90hp. Go used if you need to save cash, just look it over or have someone qualified to do so . Have fun
- I have a great suggestion. A 17 Mako. A classic model. maybe a 70's or 80's model. Put a 90 on it and you have agreat bost and not much money.
- Get an 18 foot. The difference is all between the last seat and the transom. When you put your gear on board, a 15-17 gets real crowded really fast. 60HP is fine. Get a fiberglass deep V, as they are quieter than aluminum, cooler when the sun is up, and hold the water better than a skiff. Bow riders are better for fishing, as someone can fish from the front. I once had an 18' Fleet Wing and loved it. Regards, Dan
- ck out the Boston Whaler's..... like the Boston Whaler 180 Dauntless...... to name one.....
