Fishing Q&A

No Fishing/Boating in the Great Salt Lake?

I just flew cross-country, and the route took us over the Great Salt Lake. It was a fantastic spring day, sunny and temps in the 50's...yet I saw not a single boat on the entire lake. Don't people boat/sail/fish/tour/whatever on that lake? It was the oddest thing to see no evidence of outdoor sports whatsoever on that amazing piece of water.

  1. you can fish in the lake, its like 70% salter than the ocean. it would ruin the boat and i dont think anything is living in the lake. also, i dont think it would feel good on the skin.
  2. There are no fish in that lake. There's too much salt in it. Didn't you see how white the ground was? Way too salty. Can't even swim in it.
  3. no fish in the lake. i had the same experience at klammath, or. i drove past the lake twice in a two week period and not one boat or shore angler to be seen. no salt. ???~~*<>{
  4. Did you stop to think that the water is too heavy to float a boat? It may well be that it is an off-limits area. Protected by the Fed. Parks, maybe? Never seen it, but have heard some about it, and I know that it is just a pond compared to what it was eons ago. Goodluck & Good fishing
  5. you can swim in it done that dont think its deep enough to boat
