Fishing Q&A

What are good methods of fishing for trout other than fly fishing?

I am going to the Hiwassee soon with some friends. They don't fly fish, and they dont have enough time to learn. Will they be able to attract trout with a zebco?

  1. Lures or bait are the only other options. I have caught trout with these methods before but, not where you are talking about.
  2. ABSOLUTELY!! Put a bubble, or bobber on a three foot leader and put a worm on a hook! Also you can put a fly on too! BAM! If it is an area where you can not use live bait us rubble trout worms, Creme brand. No fail mate!
  3. try fishing with a net thing and really high boots... i 4get what its called
  4. Whole Kernal Corn works great too but it may be illegal where you are going.
  5. I use Blue Fox spinners and have the trophies on the wall and trout in the freezer to show for it. In most creeks and rivers I use gold size 2, but also take sizes 1 and 3 in other colors. I've been using them for over 20 years. Just cast them close to sunken logs and rocks that trout might be hiding behind and try to make them move like a minnow trying to get away, just move them slowly so the trout can catch them. You want to make the blade spin, but try to reel them in as slow as you can get away with without snagging them. Try to work them fairly deep, but don't let them hit the bottom or you will lose them.
