  1. I've heard mepps work well
  2. a white 2 or 3 inch white plastic grub on one of them hooks with the heads at the top (White Head) will usually do you wonders good luck
  3. I take a 3/8 oz crappie jig and pull some or all of the marabou feathers off and stick on a plastic 1" curly tail and throw near cover, which can be fallen trees, rocky ledges and around piers at night. Your best success will be at night around piers with lights close to the water fishing from a boat and using shinner minnows. Often times fishermen will tie up under bridges and fish right next to the concrete pilings with a Coleman lantern just above the waters surface. The lantern attracts minnows & bugs then comes the crappie and occasionally a bass or catfish. Take several rods and vary the depths of each until you find a pattern of what depth is paying off the best and use live minnows w/o any weights added. I also highly recommend a jig made by Road Runner. It has a curly tail and a small spinner blade and when retrieved, vary your depth and action.
