- A UNI_KNOT and Clinch Knot work very well...try this site www.animatedknots.com
- Try this website www.tnoutdoorsmen.com/knots. Personally I love the palomar knot. I have only had 1 knot come undone in the 15-years I've been using this and that was after catching 20 or so skates last fall. Best of luck.
- 90% of the time I'll go with the Palomar. Another knot I'll use is the Improved Clinch. Link will show ya' how to tie them (if ya' don't know how already?), in the animated form ie., real easy ;)... < ' ( (( > < Fishin' Knots: http://animatedknots.com/indexfishing.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com Palomar: http://animatedknots.com/palomar/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com Improved Clinch: http://animatedknots.com/improvedclinch/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com Note: May want ta' hold onto this site for a tyin' of knots referrence guide... Update: Sorry sweetwaterfish, put the "cart before the horse" aaaa'gain and didn't read your post ie., highlited animated knots ;(...
- the palomar
- I trust the palomar.
- By far the best knot to tie a standard hook on with is the snell knot! http://www.animatedknots.com/snell/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
- I prefer the Palomar for tying most things fishing. Improved clinch would be my second choice.

- The Palomar knot is in my opinion the strongest and most reliable knot for hooks and swivels, and is extremely easy to tie even in the dark or if your eyes aren't too good. Also, a good and easy general purpose knot for both hooks and other tackle is either the Double Loop Clinch knot (Trilene knot) or the Double Improved Clinch (Rivers Inlet knot). You can also use a regular Improved Clinch knot, though I recommend putting the line through the eye of the hook twice instead of only once so you get a bit of added strength (I've had regular improved clinches fail on me a few times - they're easy to tie, but not quite as strong as various other knots).
