What boat is my best option?
I am looking for a boat to use on our Kansas lakes. It will be used primarily for fishing and some water sports. We have 2 young boys also to consider. What type, make etc. is the best boat for this use? Thanks, Jon

- I am not sure of what make will serve your needs the best, but start looking at models the carry the "fish and ski," styling. Grab somebody at your lake who has one of these type boats and get them to take you out on the water. (bribing with beer works really well with me.) Bend their ear for a couple hours and drive the boat. This will give you a sense of where you are going. The most important question: how am I going to use this boat?
- Semi-V Fish & Ski, outboard. If you're buying used, stay away from bayliner, nitro and tahoe. Any motor will do, long as it's evinrude/johnson, mercury or yamaha. You want a motor that is at least 80% of the max rated hp for the boat.
- if your looking for a nice quality made boat ....look at rinker.. ok for fishing and really good for water sports....You DONT want to buy anything that is too under power.....use your best judgement and find a boat that will suit your soul purpose of its use. hope this helps
- i own a bayliner 175 17.5 ft with a 3.0 mercruiser i/o its cheap to run 4 gal per hour, flat out is 43 mph easy to handle and fun.
- Go to a grady white dealer and see what he has. Grady is the best boat in the world.
- look at the v20 steplift by wellcraft its a great boat and dont cost to much the only thing is they stopped makking them in 1996 so you have to by a used one check them out google it and pics
- The fish 'n ski boats are more for skiing than fishing, in my opinion. I would suggest an aluminum fishing boat with console steering, a boarding ladder, and a min. of a 90 HP motor (for one skier). There are many good brands like Lund, Starcraft, Crestliner, Fisher, Alumacraft and more. Also suggest a wide beam, ski tow bar, high gunnals, maybe a Bimini top, four low seats in addition to the two elevated fishing seats.
