How fast will a small 14 ft. 9.8 HP fishing boat go?
I know ABSOLUTELY nothing about boats. I am taking my boyfriend to Big Bear for our anniversary and I'm going to rent a fishing boat. I was just wondering what the fastest a 9.8 hp boat would go.

- It depends on how many people are in it and the weight of the gear put in the boat. If its just 2 people under 250 lbs, and light gear, I'd say 13 to 17 mph on smoothy silk water. Never exceed the capacity limit for any boat. Make sure you comply 100% with all laws regarding boating and fishing in the area you live in. Finally, ALWAYS wear a life vest while in a small fishing boat. It only takes one mistake moving on the boat and you or both of you fall overboard or the boat capsizes.
