Is it necessary to fly fish for trout out in Montana, or would casting spinners aslo be effective?

- yes to both
- fly fishing thas what you do to catch trout
- i have used spinners, artificial worms and anything else you can think of to catch fish in Montana. just check the rules before you fish. quite a few streams are artificial lure only.
- yes to both but casting spinners are not considdered sporting
- Spinners do great on wild trout in Wyoming, so I would take them to Montana and expect to catch fish.
- I've never caught any trout on anything but power bait, salmon eggs or nightcrawlers. I have an array of spinners, spoons and lures of all types and sizes and have never known a fish to give one a second look. Once I caught a tiny bass on a spinner. A green trout, I couldn't believe it!
- both ways would be just as effective
- Depends on the local rules, how deep the water is + the weather.
- yes
- Flies and spinners are extremely effective. Woolly buggers are the best flies that I use.
