Fishing Q&A

can you give me fishing tips?

I absolutley LOVE fishing. Its so relaxing and fun, but I cant seem to catch fish :( The lake that we go to, people are always catching fish all around me but me.... Nothing! I try worms, minnow, different lures, different water depths. I must be doing something wrong. What do crappies like, thats mostly the fish that people are catching. How about bass?

  1. chicken lliver - - bloody and fresh
  2. No
  3. I don't know about crappie but bass I do know. Bass like to hide at the edge of weed beds or near underground obstacles like a boat pier or dock or submerged trees. Cast a floating lure close to some cat tails or near the edge of the dock and slowly jerk the bait in two or three second intervals and hold on. Bass like to attack and are aggressive fighters.
  4. Crappie fishing is about as fun as it gets. To have a little more success try these few things: Use a light weight rod and reel with light tackle and line - no more than 8 lb test. I've caught more crappie on minnies than all other baits combined. Use a #6 hook and hook the minnow through the lip. This lets the minnow move and gives some action. You'll lose a few this way but probably get more action. Relate to structure!!! Crappies stick to structure - underwater trees/logs, rocks, etc. Get near a tree and start casting. Use a smaller spindle bobber/vertical float - do not use the round bobbers!!! Crappies can hit very lightly - use a float that will show the lighter hits. Also, use a small sinker about 8-12 inches above your hook. This gets your bait into the zone a little faster and can trigger strikes. Do these things and you should have some action... Good Luck!
  5. well just make sure you can aim good that is the most important rule of all you have to have the right equiptment and you have to be patient very very very patient so yep that pretty much sums it up!!!!
  6. you need to use a small but medium hook with a bobber and then hook the minnow, yes use minnows.through the lips in front and then just toss it to where you think their might be the fish your looking for. and hopfully you will catch some. ps. where are you located so i can fish with you guys i love fishing to and i have everything to catch fish and catch big ones too. im at rgsiguana@yahoo.com , hope you catch some fish.
  7. Woman you should've been w/me last weekend! I caught all kinds of crappies! I even pulled in a largemouth while trying to catch pan fish. May I suggest the float&fly technique? Tie on a colorful jig(orange works best)and depending where the fish are suspended, determine where to place a bobber to your line. Cast it out and rell in your line REALLY SLOW,stopping every few seconds, hopefully you will see that bobber go under and BAM,set the hook! And if you want to fish for Largemouth bass, try using a plastic worm, that usually does the trick for me!
  8. Do what everyone else who is catching fish are doing. If they won't tell you or you are too shy to ask then just spy on them when they reel one in, to see what they're using. I LOVE fishing and I'm glad that you do too! Keep trying, you'll get 'em!
  9. Crappies will bite the best in the evening and even after dark. Try a bobber with a small to med. minnow on the hook. hook the minnow through the dorsal fin so it swims natural. set you bobber so it is about 2 feet off the bottom of the lake. Crappie generally suspend themselfs. Also if you are comfortable with it cast a 1/16 ounce jig tipped with a minnow. In my state SD, you can run 2 rods I usually run a bobber on 1 and cast a jig with the other. I am usually anchord up.
  10. Crappie like small live minnows the most and crappie like cover to hide in such as weed beds, docks , and underwater structure. It may be where your fishing I like to use a size 6 hook and a small minnow rigged under a bobber you may need to adjust the depth or length of line under your bobber . Start at 3 feet and gradually increase till you find their depth
