Fishing Q&A

Is there a particular knot, and test line that works best for fishing for peacock bass with live shiners?

Been getting a lot of strikes with 3 inch shiners on no @ hooks..Line keeps popping though..I may land 40% of the fish I hook..Embarassing...New to S. Florida..Love these Peacocks!

  1. I don't know how line shy the peacocks are, but try heavier line. Does the line break at the knot? Try the improved clinch knot, but double the line before tying it. It should keep close to 100% tensil strength. Is your drag set properly? Good luck!
  2. check thess sites out!
  3. What line are you using now? I would move to either 15 pound mono or 10 pound power pro. As far as knots go i would try a improved clnch knot. Also owner hooks might help with the hookup. Sharper easier to set when you get a strike. Also some people dont, but why dont you try using a leader. 20 pounds or so? Good Luck hope it helps.
  4. What Adam said, but I would move up to 30lb fluorocarbon leader.
