Any tips on Catching Snook in South Florida Canals?
I have caught a lot of peacock bass, LM bass...SEEN a lot of Tarpon (Not trying to catch any) but have yet to land a Snook...AND I WANT TOO! I am in Miami Dade County, near the Snake Creek Canal, but I catch most of my fish at the pond in our complex..A nice clear lake that gets virtually NO pressure...(6 pound peacock last week)..It is a secret spot I guess, Peacocks everywhere, a kid could catch 'em all day...Anyway, I wanna get some Snook!

- I know the exact lure your looking for. The rapala GSR-5. I live in Miramar and have caught largemouth bass, peacock bass, and have witnessed a snook being caught WITH THIS EXACT LURE. I lent it to a friend after i caught a few peacock bass by trolling with it, and we went trolling in the middle of the canal in the deeper part. A few mins in he feels something almost jerk the pole outta his hands... I stop the motor and grab the net. He fights the fish for a good 5-10 mins, gets it near the boat, and i see the magical jump. Out of the water comes this awesome snook, about 24 inches long, jumping almost 4 feet into the air. I net it, and just stare, speechless.... The next day, I go to walmart, and return with 5 of these. At walmart they cost 3-4 buck, and are worth way more. For a picture look at http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-RAPALA-GSR5-GBSD-Glass-Shad-Rap-Rattling-Suspending_W0QQitemZ270177520444QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270177520444 Do not buy them from this. Go to the Walmart near pro player stadium in Miramar, and look for the rapala GSR-5. I have caught everthing in those canals with this. BUY THIS LURE, and make sure you got 3 or 4 for when you let someone borrow one, or if a fish takes it.
