Inexpensive deep sea fishing charters (not party boats) in Texas, Mexico, etc?
I really want to go deep sea fishing. I want to go trolling for mahi mahi, sailfish, marlin, etc. I don't want to bottom fish for snapper or shark. Everything I have seen in south Texas is $1000 or more for deep sea charters. When I was a kid, we used to go to Mexico and deep sea fish, but I don' t know how much it cost. I'd love to hear from people with actual experience with deep sea charters.

- deep sea is kind of expensive. if you really want to go on alot of deep sea fishing. then i believe you should purchase a nice,big boat. a nice boat costs about 50-100k. and if a deep sea fishing charter costs approx. 1000-2000 bucks then it is better to have your own boat. would you rather have 50 charter trips or be able to go deep sea fishing whenever you want to. you just need trolling rods, bait afterwards.
- most charters in any given area will be pretty close in costs. I would check online or around the area and talk to people. Look for a guy going out by himself and offer to pay for some gas and bait . You may get lucky and have someone take you along. I have done it up here in the Cleveland area.
