best place to go deep sea fishing in la & a good place to stay close to the water?

i want to take my husband to la to go deep sea fishing and i want to lay on the beach,shop,relax????

I'm not sure where exactly in LA you will be staying..but I would recommend going out off Newport because you can basically drop him off.. lay on the beach or drive up to Fashion Island for some nice shopping...if he is gone on a all day boat your going to have "some time on your hands"...I don't really think there will be enough to do in Oxnard or Long Beach.. hope this helps
5. Newport is the closest...not sure on the shopping but there are tons of those tourist things. If you have time and a rental car go into the LA garment district you definitely don't want to be there after dark but it is a blast. Dana Point isn't too much lower for great fishing expeditions. While he is fishing you could take the cruiser to Catalina for the day. There is also a fishing place next to the Queen Mary check that out. They also have Catalina excursions. That is in Long Beach. NewPort is still the closest, actually anything on that ocean front will accomodate you.
