Fishing Q&A

Have any girls been deep sea fishing?

My company is offering a free dea sea fishing trip and I'm not sure if I want to go. It's very long and I've never fished. I like trying new things, but I don't know if I would enjoy this. There will be a lot of people and I will most likely be the only girl.

  1. i have not but would love to. go
  2. I did it in Daytona Beach on spring break. I didn't do too well either. They bring you so far out that you can't see land and then when we came back in the tide had goneout and we had to go back the long way which took an extra few hours. If you think you have a weak stomach, take some Dramamne with. Make sure you wear a light hat ( like a straw hat) trust me on that one. It might be fun with a group of guys, but if you get all girly and barfy it may back fire. If you go, good luck!
  3. I went with my grandfather when I was about 7. It's very different from the regular seas. The waves (swells) are much bigger. I was scared because it was around the time "Jaws" came out and we saw a small shark. Looking back now...it was a great experience! I would go again in a heartbeat! I have never been motion sick though. If you are sensitive to motion sickness (car, boat, airplane, etc...) I would not go. (Especially with co-workers!)
  4. I have and i love it. But if you are the only girl and you dont seem to get along with the guys then stay on shore where its safe. If you get along and can talk to the guys and enjoy the comapny go. They will teach you how to fish. It can be tons of fun if they are a good crowd and easy to talk to. So think where you stand with them and if you feel comfortable to go. Also are you aloud to bring a guest cause if you can the invite some one you know you will have fun with.
  5. I've gone deep sea fishing when I went to Destin,FL. I enjoyed and yet I didn't. My advice though, is to take Dramamine (sp?) which is a sea sickness pill. Unless you have an iron stomach, I'd advise on taking it so you don't get sea sick--of course if you are on a huge oceanliner you won't have to worry about that. I enjoyed the experience in that I've never done it before, and I love the ocean. I also got to see dolphins jumping near the boat while we were cruising. However, I didn't agree with the way the first mate ripped the fish off the hooks. If that bothers you, I'd advise against going. I'm not a animal cruelty activist, but I don't like seeing animals hurt or treated rough. I'd never fished in the ocean but the first mate helped all of us that went--and he was nice about it. If it's something you've always wanted to do--go for it. Who cares if you are the only female. I'm sure you'll find someone you can chat with. But I wouldn't let your fears get the best of you, you'll have an experience you will always remember.
  6. Go I'm sure you will have a great time. they generally bait your hook for you and take care of the catch for you. if you get motion sickness be sure and take some dramamine and no matter how nice the weather be prepared for wind rain and possibly cool temperatures because the boats tend to leave EARLY in the morning and it is best to be prepared. wear a good pair of jeans Tennis shoes and sun glasses. just go and try it. I love it so much that I have gone deep sea fishing at least once a year since the first time I went out about 28 years ago. it's ok to be the only girl on the boat. just be yourself live for the moment and have a great time. NOTHING VENTURED NOTHING GAINED ! if you don't go you will always wonder . if you go and don't like it then you will know how you feel about deep sea fishing for future reference. Good Luck You are going to have a G~R~E~A~T TIME !!!!!!! (:
