What is the protocol for tipping on a private deep sea fishing boat?
I am taking a 6-hour fishing trip with my family of 4 out of Waianae in Oahu and need to know soon.

- 15% of the trip cost as a tip to the first mate, no tip to the captain as he would own the boat.
- that depends on how good the crew was. Usually 5% to 10% of the cost for the trip.
- I did a private deep sea fishing trip one time. There were 6 of us and we were out for about 5 hours. I believe we all tipped about $5. Whether that was entirely right or not we weren't sure, but the two-man boat crew seemed grateful.
- Go with Mike he his correct.
- 15% to Gilligan, nothing for the skipper. Say hi to Mr. & Mrs. Howell for me. Catch you in a few years.
