Bass Fishing?
What is the best time of year to go bass fishing? Also what do you use that works the best. I like the fake worms, but id like to hear what others would use.

- Spring when they are coming off the winter fast, getting ready to spawn and really, really hungry. Live bait. Red Worms. I like to fish for bass with bluegill set up. You pull in a 5 pound bass on a rig set for 1 pound gills and you know you have been somewhere! But just for the record catch and release bass. The very, very best eating fish in my opinion is the Gill. Particularly in the spring when they are loaded with eggs. Fried gill eggs are heaven!
- Springtime here in Georgia. Right when it first starts to get warm and the fish come up off the bottom. It also depends a lot on the lunar cycle. Fish seem to respond to a full moon. As for tackle, I have the best luck with light colored spinner-baits (depending on the season; white in the spring/summer, chartrouse in the fall) but do very well with plastics, too. You have to know how to work plastics, though. Bass like to hit worms as they fall, so slow your reel, lift your tip and let the worm drop. But it's patience and technique that catch bass, not tackle.
- spring and fall. soft plastics and creel baits. creel bait are just hard plastics that match the existing fish that are natural to the area you fish. As for live bait shiners, 3-5 inch bream and large minnows are hard to beat
- best year in minnesota is april, BUT the season is not open yet (DAMN) and it is where the mother and father breeding season come where the monster comes to guard their eggs or breed near the shoreline, anyways, tried summer till august, nice 1-3 pounders at the shorebanks. fake worms for deep fishing, spinnerbait for shortline fishing
- right before & after a thunderstorm. they bite really good then. summer though. yes worms are good but spinner bates are good to, also rooter tails are very good & if you fish in moss a top water is a good one to use in that situation. i myself like top water bates cause you can never tell when one will strike & when it dose it shockes me when on bites. worms are good around the endges of the moss as well as spinner bates. but for open without too much debries rooster tails & worm are good. rattle trap is a good bait to. its good for open water with no debrie cause you can lose this kind of bait really easy. bass are good to eat. some people dont eat them cause they call them sport fish. but myself i eat some of them from time to time. good luck in your fishing adventures:-)
- personnaly for me the best time to catch largemouth,or black bass,is in the fall.although the biggest bass i have caught was sep 8 1998. i do fish year round.i have been on the water and had to flick the ice out of the eyes of my rod every other cast.i did catch fish though. i really like small plastics, such as 4" worms(berkley),2 1/2" tubes(berkley),or 3/8-1/2 oz jigs with plastic trailers. also i will fish along rock walls with a depth of 40' sometimes.for this i use a ledgebuster spinnerbait, usually 1-1 1/2 oz,casting and slow rolling it back just letting it bounce off the bottom. it is a proven fact that people will normally fish with what they have "confidence" in. so just get out there and get a line wet.u will figure out what kind of bait to use at certain locations, and just build that confidence level up in urself and ur baits.good luck.
- spring and early summer top water baits
