  1. I love fishingggg!!!! try looking on Craigslist.com for a cheap boat.
  2. if you live near a lake they usually publish a newspaper or magazine & is a good place to buy used boats. we did a couple different times. this is the perfect time to buy before spring. have fun fishing & good luck with tournaments. most have their own websites
  3. I was just on ebay looking for a bass boat. There are several to choose from ranging from 300.00 up. Best way to find out about local tournaments is to join a bass club in your area. there are many in different parts of the country. They generally welcome new mwmbers particularly in the youth catagories.

  5. There are cheap bassboats for $200-$300, but you'll also need to buy a trailer and have a vehicle to haul it...I had a small skiff to go fishing when I was a kid, wish I had a canoe. When fishing in tournaments you acquire points determined by how you place in the tournament. (pts for highest weight, most fish caught...) In seasonal tournaments, if you have acquired enough points, you qualify to fish in the Masters Tournament.
  6. I kept checking my local newspaper classifieds until i found a boat tell you the truth i love my 12 ft Jon boat i can get into places where my buddies can't with my trolling motor up and using a push pole i can get into thin water. For points you fish and the best you do in tournaments you can gain points for weighing in a limit, lunker, etc and they all add up for angler of the yr points.
  7. Check your local craiglist for a boat in your price range. Sometimes the local news paper might have some deals too. I fish tournaments here in California and the point system works different for each circuit you fish. Normally the first place person will get 100 points then second place will get 99 points then third 98 points fourth 97 points and so on. Some circuits will start at 50 points for first then 49 for second and so on. Then at the end of the year after fishing the whole list of tournaments at the different lakes and rivers the circuit puts on they will add up all your points for each tournament fished to find the angler of the year points race. For example you fished all 5 tournaments and came in tenth place each time. At the 100 point system you would have 5 times 90 for a total of 450 points total for the year. Good luck finding your first boat, I still have my very first boat that I purchased which is a 12 foot jon boat with a 36 lb trolling motor. I bought this boat when I was 16 years old and still enjoy going to our local river catching some nice bass floating with the current. I also own a large bass boat that I fish in each weekend. I just love fishing. Keep a tight line and practice fishing on the water as much as you can. Remember any time you are fishing is a good time to go fishing. If you need some help finding fish please ask, I'll try and help. John <*(((((><
  8. Try a float tube first.
  9. I live in Indiana and the way the points are kept, all Bass tournaments here are catch and release if you are fishing a tournament and catch Bass total weight of 10 lbs. that number is recorded and the fish released-if its a 4 day tournament-every day the total is recorded until you have a final number of pounds or points,,, and about the cheap Bass boat I don't know. Lots of times you can go to the tournament and find out if everyone with a boat has a partner and maybe latch on to him and be his partner all summer and a boat will finally come along.. Good Luck
  10. dude back up ---slow down & join a local bass fishing club---ask ? you'll get all the answers you want on the dock!!!!
  11. Since you are 15, and just starting out, I would echo one of the previous answers and recommend a float tube. They are inexpensive and effective. I still use mine a lot in certain places even though I have a nice boat. Join a fishing club, read some magazines, and get some tips at the local baitshop and you will do fine. Above all else, have fun! Personally, I don't do tournaments any more. They just aren't fun to me. If i were you, I would sharpen my skills, become familiar with techniques and bass habits, then maybe try a tournament or two. Just have fun.
