Fishing Q&A

Best summer bass fishing in Northern KY?

I have been trying to scope out northern kentucky for some bass fishing. For a while during the spring, it was okay, but now the summer and lack of rain is making bass fishing here bad. Where can I go in northern ky or southern ohio (cincinnati)?? If you could provide them, some general tips on catching bass at that lake??

  1. Nolin Lake is part of the Green River. The lake opened in 1963 and covers 5,790 acres at summer pool. This one i've tried and plenty of Bass Boaters must obtain a pass to operate on this lake.
  2. IN NOrthern Kentucky there are several State lakes.. Kinkade and Earl Combs lakes are decent. The Ohio river in Northern Kentucky can provide some good fishing.. though the BFL guys in Louisville Today had it tough. Biggest lake near you is Cave Run but bass fishing there is average. There is Brookville Lake in Southeastern Indiana and some small lakes around Cincinnati. Nolin is about a 3 hour drive from you at least. 2 hours to Louisville on I-71 and 1hour to 1.5 on I-65 south to Nolin. Herrington Lake is closer near Lexington and is fairly good.. as is Wilgreen lake another State Lake. Jim Dicken Editor www.Fishin.com
