Good bass fishing spot in KC? Fishing in Kansas City?
Just moved here in the fall and am looking for a pond or lake with any kind of bass fishing. I live in the Waldo/Brookside area so something close to there would be great. No boat, so will be dock or fishing from the shore. Does not need to be a big lake - just something! Thanks for your help!

- If you want to know the best spot to fish in Kansas City I have a tip for you. Download Google Earth or view a map of your town/city and look for Ponds/Lakes/Streams/Rivers that are hidden. Just put in your address and view the local surroundings. Spots that are overfished require EXTREME fishing expertise (I could tell you from personal Pain in the @ss experiences with this living in Jersey). anyways find a pond behind a business building or hidden in a local residence and try that spot because this spot is less pressured and the fish aren't as tentative in determining whether its a fake or a real bait. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU! People here on Y! will tell you well known overfished spots but its the secret spots that produce the best and at the highest level
- I'm in the KC area (on the KS side) and am an avid bass fisherman. First of all, there will be little if any areas to go in less than 20 mins. If you want to find some good little ponds or even a decent lake you will have to get into the suburbs at least and that will require 20 mins. or more from Waldo/Brookside area. Another option would be to contact/join a local B.A.S.S. club in your area and make friends with and get to know some of those guys, they will have a boat and they obviously like to and know how to fish and will be able to take you to good lakes and may know some of the local farmers who have ponds too.
- James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife area is outstanding for bass fishing from the bank. It is located in Lees Summit. It has several large ponds that get little to no bass fishing pressure. I fish it regularly and have great success. Good luck!
