i am looking for plans to build a small fishing boat around 14 ft. with plywood or wood framed.?
I hope to build with composîte wood or another type, not sure, but will have ribs on the inside of the boat.I think these are called chines. Anyway I want this boat to be lightweight enough to take off the back of a truck without too much trouble and then put into the water.I would like to use a small motor on this boat as well. My main use though is to use this boat for fishing.

- Forget plans! All you need is duct tape!
- look in the boating magazines for ideas.
- Composit wood is very heavy.
- I tried that before and all my occupants had to swim back to shore.
- marine plywood only- regular plywood absorbs water. I can tell you from experience- Go out and buy one> And not wood! Alum or fiberglass/resin.
- You can get plans for small boats from "Messing About in Boats" or "Wooden Boat" (magazines) We have a friend who sold plans for a boat made from luan. Chine is the turn of the bilge, it is either hard or soft depending on whether it is an angle or a curve The ribs on the inside are called ribs. Composite is not a good material because of permeability. The new plastic woods might work.(recycled wood chips and recycled plastic)
