Fishing Q&A

I want a fishing/family boat for Lake Champlain. Any suggestions?

I can spend up to $10k for a good used boat. I need something that can be trailered with a minivan. It needs to be able to handle up to 3 foot chop. It also needs to be able to pull one adult skier on smooth water. I want good fuel efficiency and dependability . I had an outboard in mind. What type of boat, size, and motor (horsepower) would you recommend?

  1. Bayliner bowrider 17 foot with either an I/O or outboard motor should do just fine - I have seen new ones with a trailer for under $13000
  2. 17' Boston Whaler is a nice pkg. with a 90 H.P.... Safe too, high resale value.... http://whaler.com/Rec/default.asp?content=home
  3. Other than to grow a pair and find an ocean.......
  4. 17 or 18 ft RANGER with a 90 - 115 merc or evinrude
  5. 41 foot Sonic with triple blown 502's. This is a great boat for trolling for rock fish. It can also pull one skier if they are not to heavy. Also is great on gas. I pull mine with my Toyota Prius Thur the Rockey mountains with no problem.
