Why are bass boats sparkly?
Why are small out-board fishing boats painted with glittery paint? Do they attract fish? Boat buyers? Boat buyers' wives?

- Great question! You would think the men folk would want something rugged and manly. Perhaps it's a way of replacing the ole' wife with something pretty, sparkly, and shiny?
- Why do men and SOME women customize their trucks & cars? Its just a way of making your rig(boat) individualized, and it Catches fisherman more due to more Bling and not just plain Jan. Yes the poly flake cost more on some boats, but so do some colors on cars/trucks. Oh and its called a Poly Flake and is just as rugged as plain clear coat. Its just like customizing your personal vehicale.
- they just are there to show off
- its just to show off, it catches your eye more than just a plain ol paint job
- aint you ever heard, us rednecks will buy anything with a glitter finish. its goes something like this walk into ranger dealership see all them shiny new boats and go heres my lifesavings i must have it. cant say it unless you are one and well i r one. Git Er Dun.
- for men who want to show off what they can afford, or pretend to afford before the bank comes a knocking,,, i have a open bow deep v hull, it fits my needs perfectly...
- I have a bass boat, more aptly a Jon boat that is painted green enamel with a roller and brush but it does the job. Paid all of $450 for it. Bank repo-ed my sparkly Champion bass boat years ago. All it attracted was the repo-man. Edit: BTW that Champion was Gold metal flake from bow to stern, top to bottom. Sure was pretty though. In the sunlight the reflection would penetrate the water and scare the **** out of fish as far as the eye could see. My other bass boat has a grey hull. Not that intimidating to the fish.
- it makes'm go faster and, no matter how much I want to admit, the little woman picks out the 'pretty' sparkly jigs and lures and, guess witch baits catch the fish, the sparkly ones.
- Cuz they just look so dang good with all that perty sparlkly paint! Seriously, it is just for looks. It doesn't have anything to do with attracting fish or anything like that.
- Goldenfeather nailed the Q. FYI: I personally don't like a "fishing-boat's" Hull painted in the colors "red", "black", or "blue". IMHO, a "fishing-boat's" Hull should be painted in variation's of green or white. I feel more confident in a boat with camo or green (vari) on the hull, than in a "flashy" ,"sparkle", Red painted hull! If anything, these "flashy" hulls "repel" fish, esp in shallow water. (Of course, I have no "proof" this makes a difference in catching fish, but, If I was going to "pay for" a brand new "fishing boat", It certainly wouldn't be painted Sparkle Purple & Red W/ Black upholstery! This is just my opinion!) (Funny Exert!)
