Saltwater fishing?
What type of fish can i fish for in Bays. I have a 21 ft center console boat that I do not want to take Off shore. I want to stay in Bays and marshes. I know I can fish for Red Fish, trout, flounder. However I want to fish for much bigger fish if at all possible as well. I will be fishing primarily in Louisiana, MS, Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.

- Don't overlook Snook, Tarpon, Jack Crevale, barracuda, and black drum. The jacks and barracuda are especially fun on light tackle. There a number of passes or inlets where bays are emptying into the gulf or the Atlantic and some big fish will congregate at the mouth of these inlets waiting for an easy meal. Boca Grande on the West side of Florida is famous for its Tarpon fishing in early summer. Fishing the bridge channels in the Florida Keys is another Tarpon hot spot. If possible check out Channel 2, Channel 7, and Bahia Honda bridges. If you venture a little offshore to some of the many wreck sites you can hook up with amberjack which will give you a real fight. You will find them hanging out about half way down the water column over a wreck, reef, or other bottom structure. Good Luck
- I wanna go
- Lousiana ooo i love that place. i am going there this weekend. TUNA FISHING!! tuna fishing is great there. use live bonita or dead cut bait. or you could troll!
- They have Tarpon at Apalachicola bay. I don't know if they are in Louisiana, MS. They catch big reds up to 40lb all over the gulf. Black Drum get big as well. Triple tail get over fairly big. Cobia could be in close in the.
- Except for the occasional monster Drum or "lost" Nurse/Tiger-Shark MOST of the time (in Creeks, Marshes & Bays) Reds, Trout, Flounder, Sheephead, Jacks, Ladyfish, Spanish Mac's, Weakfish, Sand-Trout, and Sailcats would be what you most likely will catch. If you want bigger than a 15-25LB Redfish you would have to go offshore! At certain times of the year you "might" be able to pick up a Kingfish/Cobia/HUGE Red on a Bay VERY near the Gulf. Otherwise, Creeks have "creek-fish" in them! (sorry!) Hope this helps ya?
- don't overlook sharks, you can hook very nice sized ones close to shore, but be careful, or they might catch you instead of the other way around.
