Saltwater fishing in Luisiana.?
I just purchased a 21 ft center console pro master boat in good condition from a friend. The only problem I have now is I have been on the internet and cannot find the information I want. I need to know where can I take my boat to fish. I know that Grand Isle is a good place to fish because I have taken chartered trips there. WHere can i find out where to launch at. Also What other types of fish can I catch besides Red Fish, Trout, and flounder. Also how far to the ocean can I go, or can I even go into the ocean. I really want to take a trip soon and cannot figure out the specs.

- I had a 19 foot center console and I went 10 to 20 miles out on occasion. Just make sure you have your safety stuff. Radio, GPS, Flairs, Life Preservers, Water and Food and most of all, Tell someone where you are going and when you will be back every time. I would think you could catch grouper, snapper, amberjack in the 10 - 20 mile range. Sixty feet of water plus. I don't know any specifics about Louisianna, but you should be able to find wrecks and artificial reefs points at a local bait shop.
- Try going to the Weeks Island area to launch your boat, near Cypremort Point. I had a camp on the Point several years ago. Fish in Vermilion Bay near Marsh Island for all of your red's, flounder, specks, sheep head, black drum, golden croaker, and alligator gar. Head on out to Southwest Pass about 20 min from Marsh Island for Black Tip shark. I caught allot of bull reds at the Pass free-lining small croakers for bait. Follow the sea gulls and load up on specks in that area. From the Pass head straight out to the Gulf. In August it gets pretty flat offshore. Anywhere from about 10-20 miles from the Pass and you will be in some good trolling waters. You can catch some Spanish mackerels and king-fish closer in within the 5 mile range. I would head out about 20 miles and catch cobia, wahoo, king-fish during the Summer months. During the winter the Pass is great for bull reds but Vermilion Bay can be very rough this time of year. 40 yr exp
