Any suggestions on a good place in Central Florida to do some bank fishing?
I don't have a boat or access to a boat but, I love to fish! Can anyone suggest any places in Central Florida (in or near Volusia County) where fishing from the banks you can still catch fish and not just be drowning some worms? lol Also would love to find a place that is safe for my young children to fish and be able to catch something! Would love to spark their interest in the sport of fishing.

- It's been a few years since I lived in Florida. I lived up in Sanford and there was a big lake up there and people were always fishing from the bank. My suggestion would be to go get your fishing license and ask them were some good places are located. I know there used to be a lot of bridges that were strictly fishing bridges.
- for freshwater bank fishing is kinda tough. and if your wanting to introduce kids to fishing youll be alot better off fishing the river off of one of the many bridges along the river. find some local tackle shops for more specific spots. use shrimp for bait unless the tackle shop tells you otherwise. it might be a drive but alot of folks catch alot of fish along the south jetty at cape canaveral. that can be a fun day to with all the people and ship comming in and out.
- The best places I have found to bank fish here in Fl( as far as a place to take kids )are lakes and ponds in housing developments. I am not real familiar with Volusia co. But there might be some parks with ponds or you might ask people wo live near a pond if you are allowed to take the kids fishing. Also try local bait and tackle shops for info.
- You're in prime location, go to one of the many parks and fishing piers along the Indian River Lagoon (Mosquito Lagoon, Indian River, and Banana River if you're up for a drive south), get some shrimp from a bait store and get out there. No need for fishing licenses since you'll be bank or dock or bridge fishing, and there's plenty of fish to be found. (If nothing else, you'll at least get to unhook some puffers and catfish, the kids can have some fun with sailor's choice if you go anywhere with some structure and depth) Just keep in mind that the FLW redfish tour's going on right now out of Titusville, so there's a lot of people out there, not sure how many fish are getting away from those people who are after money for them. (Heck, go to Ponce Inlet, there should be some stuff biting around there.... tidal.... oh to be near an inlet......) Good luck.
